The Auspicious Moment

In the Buddhist religion, there is an auspicious moment that marks the beginning of a construction project. This candle in a basket is placed on each home site and all are tethered together with chanting monks at one end. I don’t completely understand the auspicious moment and ceremony, but the feeling of importance to all the people of Kalametiya was overwhelming.

This is a moment that changed my life.

The blurred effect was created in Photoshop because the site was much less important than the ceremony and rebuilding after the tsunami.
